Surianne’s emotive soul-filled sounds are very reminiscent of her Mediterranean roots. Described as ‘La niña del Sur’, the inspiring purity in her unconventional singing style is powerful and authentic. The raw and untainted nature of her talent, a combination of a broad and soaring vocal range with an exquisite warm and distinguished tone, have earned her favourable comparisons to the likes of Eva Cassidy and Janis Joplin.
Singer songwriter Surianne features with her band ‘Levanter Breeze’ in the Gibraltar National Day Rock Concert 2020 aired on GBC TV, September 10th, as part of the National Day celebrations. The concert was set to take place at the Grand Casemates Square but due to the COVID – 19 pandemic, was instead pre-recorded in late August at the John Macintosh Hall by J2 Productions.
‘Levanter Breeze’ is an eclectic Jazz fusion band from Gibraltar who continuously collaborate with Surianne since their initial performance together at the 7th Gibraltar International Jazz Festival 2019, December 7th, at the spectacular St.Michaels Cave supporting Italian saxophonist Stefano Di Battista. They are currently working on band arrangements for the original compositions of the singer songwriter, adding their influences and knowledge with a view to record and produce an independent EP that will include her song ‘It’s up to You’ as the first single to be released.
Surianne is steadily going from strength to strength attracting a loyal fan base with her captivating vocals, infectious melodies and engaging stage presence. She has performed at festivals and prestigious events such as the Trade Union Congress in London in aid of International Woman’s Day, The Princes Trust Business Awards, Gibraltar May Day Celebrations 2019, Miss Gibraltar 2019 cocktail party, The Gibraltar Jazz Festival 2019/2017/2016, The London International Music Show, The Hard Rock Cafe, The Beverley Folk Festival, Nottingham Riverside Festival, O2 Carling Academy, La Catarina (Marbella), TRE Telethon and at the exclusive ‘Cena Benefica 2016′ in aid of Gipsy Cannis in Marbella. She has formed part of the line up for ‘A Future That Works 2012’ rally in Hyde Park alongside Natalie McCool, The Dhol Blasters, performing to a crowd over 100,000 people. Shared the stage with the likes of Stefano Di Battista, Suzanne Vega, Rozalla, Larissa Eddie, Yazz, Juan Peña, Laura Rubio, Nate James, Steve Balsamo and Breed77. She has been artist preference by UK MP Diane Abbott for the parliamentary music competition ‘Rock The House 2013’ and in 2005, she was nominated for a Birmingham Music Award for Best Unsigned Act in the Midlands.
Surianne is runner up to the annual Gibraltar singer songwriter competition held on the 28th December 2019. On March 8th 2017, she was honoured as one of seven most successful women of Gibraltar by The Gibraltar Olive Press. Her song ´We are as one´, co written with producer Terry Shaughnessy (The Universal / Hair of the Dog Studios) in April 2017, has been to date, for three consecutive years, the official anthem for the United Nationalities Marbella Summit. ´We are as One’, celebrates unity in diversity, embraces our differences and inspires a shared appreciation to positive change. ´We are as One’ continuously plays as part of the soundtrack for popular TV programme MarbellaNOW TV, online and on Spanish TV Channel RTV Marbella. In 2016, Surianne collaborated with producer Mikki Nilsen (Gecko Studios/ Loyal Enemy) releasing ‘Hold On’ as an independent YouTube music video single. Watch the video here. The song quickly become radio favourite of the Mi Marbella FM playlist. This same year, Surianne celebrates success with ‘Amor’, a song written in conjunction with J2Productions (Producer & co writer of Shakira’s Dare ‘La La La’ and Brazil FIFA World Cup Version 2014) released as 2nd single by breakthrough Latino artist Jesse Medeles.
In 2011, Surianne independently released charity single ‘Stronger Than Before’ entering the iTunes UK Top 100 Latino songs at #56 in aid of Hestia Housing and Support, a London based charity that gave Surianne the title as Ambassador as a result of her philanthropic work. Watch the music video here
Surianne streams weekly as part of the global artist roster in music platform ‘Sessions Live’ and has been a music presenter for the online music community ‘On Song International’. She is founder of ‘The Busy Bee Club’ and ‘LAPA’ (Laude Academy of Performing Arts), working as a music workshop facilitator and mentor in Marbella and Gibraltar, nurturing and inspiring creative passion in young children, providing family creative workshops at the Cancer Relief Centre in Gibraltar, as well as writing and producing a concept album for their HEARTS therapy sessions. Other commissions include songwriting for teenage pop artist ‘Elisha Lang’ (semifinalist La Voz Kids, Fenomeno Fan) and for YouTube sensation Martina D ‘Antiochia, for episodes of her infamous Youtube channel ‘La Diversion de Martina’
*Levanter Breeze is an eclectic Jazz fusion band from Gibraltar incorporating influences from Flamenco and Arabic music. The band is comprised of four members; Brian Torres (Keyboards), Francis Pecino (Drums), Luis Chipolina (Bass) and Peter Martinez (Guitar). They have been support acts for Jools Holland in 2015 and Al Di Meola in 2017 at the Gibraltar International Jazz Festival.
